Superior Safety, Efficacy, Simplicity,  Economy & Service

Health Care

Hospitals and long term care facilities across the country serve and protect some of our most vulnerable and valuable citizens.  That job is made more complicated by the incredible range of pathogens they must thwart from human contact (norovirus, e.coli, coliform), food preparation (listeria, salmonella), medical facilities (MRSA, C.difficile), and environmental factors (legionella, mold).  In addition, health care facilities have cleaning challenges from organic soils, odours, and stains that require real cleaning expertise.  RJ Chemicals can help, with "The Right Stuff" to clean and sanitize your hospital or nursing home!

Carbapenem-Producing Enterobacteriaceae are here.

Are you ready?  Do you have a plan?  We do.

It's a really long name for a very small thing, but carbapenem-producing enterobacteriaceae are more lethal than MRSA, and are the next inevitable challenge for hospitals and long term care facilities.  These bacteria were first found in the USA in 1992, and have spread to 44 states, predominantly through hospital and long term care environments.  With mortality rates nearing 50%, almost complete immunity to the most powerful classes of antibiotics in the health-care arsenal, and the ability to transfer their β-lactam resistance to other common bacteria like e.coli, the only way to beat this superbug is vigilance in sanitation, excellent process, and the best sanitation products .  So far this incredibly nasty gram-negative bacilli is rare in Canada, but in preparation for the inevitable, Health Canada has prepared this guide to educate and prepare the industry.  So how can we help?  RJ Chemicals can provide you with anolyte, a proprietary, spray-on, no-rinse, non-bleaching, contact safe, hypoallergenic, DIN certified sanitizer that has been clinically proven to destroy two CPE variants (Klebsiella pneumonia carbapenemase and New Delhi Metallo-Beta Lactamase), as well as Mycobacterium bovis (Tuberculosis), Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), swine influenza virus (H1N1), anthrax, c.difficile, vacomycin resistant enterococcus, HIV, listeria moncytogenes and escherichia coli (E. coli), all without the human contact risks of bleach or quats -- no safety equipment is required to apply it, and it can be aerosolized without moving most residents.  It's even an effective and safe hand-sanitizer that devastates norovirus.  Click here to arrange a consultation about how we can help to protect your long term care facility from carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae and we'll show you "The Right Stuff" for the job -- Ultra-Lyte!

Health Care is for Schools Too!

It's difficult to find a santizer that's suitable for our must vulnerable citizens, children and seniors.  Many of the same health care issues that are of grave concern to nursing homes and hospitals are also relevant to schools and daycares -- norovirus outbreaks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to infections that can be shared on contact or via fomites (from pencils to doorknobs) in an educational setting.  Anolyte is one of the MOST gentle and effective sanitizers in the world -- hypoallergenic, non-residual, and delivering high log reductions against the most common pathogens found in schools.  Check out the YouTube video to the right showing our product being fogged in the Athletic department of the University of Guelph!

Superbugs

Antibiotic resistant superbugs were, in the past, a "third world" phenomenon created by overuse of antibiotics, but in the past decade they've become a problem here, at home.  In the recent past we've been asked to deal with acinetobacter baumanni, clostridium difficile, methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, and pseudomonas aeruginosa, but now we have a new foe - carbapanem producing enterobacteria that can pass its β-lactam resistance to other common bacteria like e.coli producing even more superbugs.  Anoyte, our electron-scavenging superbug killer, is hypoallergenic; Health Canada DIN certified as a medical disinfectant; is perfect for high patient turning emergency rooms, radiology departments, and examination rooms; provides log6 reduction on every one of these new HAI threats, and can be produced onsite and on demand.  Anolyte is remarkable new technology, patented, and only available through RJ Chemicals.  This is, indeed, "The Right Stuff" to deal with superbugs.

Sanitation

Let's start with one of the biggest problems in health care facilities.  Norovirus alone is not a killer, but the elderly often have multiple medical conditions and compromised immune systems.  .  Legionella pneumophila is content growing in air conditioners.  Streptococcus pneumoniae is ubiquitous.  E.coli, hepatitis, coloform, MRSA, and other pathogens are ready to take advantage of any weakness in sanitation protocols.  The only defense is constant vigilance.  The question that every health care facility has to ask is whether they have any allies in that constant battle against pathogens.  With RJ Chemicals, you have an ally.  We understand that our contribution is not just about product, but also about service and consultation.  Let's get the right product in use at your facility, then get your staff trained on how to use those products.  Let's train on a real understanding of  sanitation, not just checklists, and let's work together to keep your residents and patients safe and healthy.  That's "The Right Stuff".

Kitchen

Health care facilities often serve more meals than an average restaurant, and the degree of care that must go into preparing meals and maintaining a pristine food preparation environment requires far more diligence than the average restaurant would invest in their food preparation routines.  Even so, kitchens and dining rooms are one of the top vectors for pathogens.  So how can RJ Chemicals help with your food preparation routines?  Safety first -- can we replace some of your more caustic, corrosive, or otherwise dangerous products with less aggressive but equally effective products?  Efficacy second -- are the cleaners you're using actually effective against the specific soils in your kitchen, and do your sanitizers target the pathogens that will inevitably find their way into your system?  Simplicity third -- can you accomplish the same results with a smaller, simpler assortment.  And last, service, service, service.  That's "The Right Stuff".

Laundry

Laundry's simple, right?  Only for someone who doesn't do laundry for a health care facility.  Pre-treating for heavy organic soils, sanitizing prior to wash cycles, segregating organic and inorganic stains, fabric-safe bleaching, and hypoallergenic static control is a process best left to someone who has more than a basic understanding of separating colors and using hot or cold water.  RJ Chemicals can help.  If you don't have existing (or successful) protocols for laundry, we can help you create them.  We can provide the product, the processes, and the service you need.

Odor Control

Odor control is a problem for almost every health care facility.  A surface that looks clean -- even one that has been sanitized -- will almost always host some small amount of residue that acts as a breeding ground for pathogens that inevitably cause odor.  Typical problem areas are drains, bathrooms, garbage rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and rooms where incontinence is an issue.  How can RJ Chemicals help?  Our line of non-pathogenic, enzymatic odor-eaters outcompetes "bad" bacteria and leaves them starving -- no food, no odor, no fuss, no muss.

General Cleaning

Of course we can tackle the specifics of health care environments -- norovirus, sanitation, kitchen, laundry, and odor control -- but we can also provide nearly every product your facility requires for general cleaning, from heavy-duty d'limonene to pine-oil, from tile cleaners to steam cleaning solutions, from toilet cleaners to coil cleaners.  Many of our cleaning products have certifications that go beyond the basics, approved by the CFIA for use in regulated food plant environments.  We can help with almost any soil, and almost any situation.
